On the Degrees of Freedom in Cognitive Radio Channels
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this work we revisit the multiplexing gain, or degrees of freedom, of the Gaussian cognitive radio channel. Prior work has shown that the cognitive radio channel attains one degree of freedom, indicating that while cognition significantly improves rates over the interference channel at medium SNR, at high SNR the cognitive channel too is interference-limited. In this work we show that by allowing the power of the secondary user to scale infinitesimally faster than the power of the primary user, degrees of freedom arbitrarily close to 2 can be achieved. This is equal to that of an ideal 2 × 2 MIMO channel, and cannot be achieved in a similar manner in the interference channel.

Degrees of Freedom Region for the MIMO X Channel
We provide achievability as well as converse results for the degrees of freedom region of a MIMO X channel, i.e., a system with two transmitters, two receivers, each equipped with multiple antennas, where independent messages need to be conveyed over fixed channels from each transmitter to each receiver. The inner and outerbounds on the degrees of freedom region are tight whenever integer degre...

متن کاملSecure Collaborative Spectrum Sensing in the Presence of Primary User Emulation Attack in Cognitive Radio Networks
Collaborative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is an effective approach to improve the detection performance in Cognitive Radio (CR) networks. Inherent characteristics of the CR have imposed some additional security threats to the networks. One of the common threats is Primary User Emulation Attack (PUEA). In PUEA, some malicious users try to imitate primary signal characteristics and defraud the CR user...
متن کاملA Transmit Beamforming Technique for MIMO Cognitive Radios
In the present paper one of the main problems of cognitive radios, that is how to allow the secondary (cognitive) users to exploit the unused resources by primary users, is faced by introducing multiple antennas at the cognitive terminals. Under the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI), a transmit beamforming scheme based on a linear algorithm is proposed for the exploitation o...
متن کاملThe Degrees of Freedom Regions of MIMO Broadcast, Interference, and Cognitive Radio Channels with No CSIT
The degrees of freedom (dof) regions are characterized for the multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) broadcast channel (BC), the interference channel (IC), and the cognitive radio channel (CRC) when there is perfect and no channel state information at the receivers and the transmitter(s) (CSIR and CSIT), respectively. For the K-user MIMO BC, the exact characterization of the dof region is obtain...
